Encouraging Self Esteem, Resilience and Wellbeing in Young People

Thursday 18th January 2018 // Viewpoint Derwentside Business Centre, Consett, Co Durham. DH8 6BN

Cost: £249 (Exc VAT) 10% discount for additional delegates

Ofsted are recommending that schools provide ‘Staff development to support their own well being and that of students’ . Our teacher CPD will promote the recognition and identification of mental health and well being in their students by building their self esteem and raising awareness.

In the Department of Education paper from March 2014 the findings in relation to dealing with students with mental health issues are as follows:

  • 1/10 children aged 5-16 are clinically diagnosed with a mental health disorder
  • 1/7 have an identified less severe mental health problem
  • Schools want to share approaches to support children at risk of developing mental health problems

There is a great deal of publicity in relation to students and mental health, and schools have a responsilbility to make the experiences of the children as stimulating and as supportive as they possibly can.  This course is your opportunity to ensure that your students have the very best opportunities to increase their self esteem, develop resilience and ensure that your students’ wellbeing is at the forefront of the education they receive.

The course will include:

  • Motivating students
  • Cognitive behavioural therapy modality (CBT)
  • Identifying students with anxiety
  • Teaching techniques to build self esteem
  • Marginal gains
  • Using social media as a force for good
  • Recognising signs of stress in students
  • Stressbusting and minfulness
  • Building self-esteem in students
  • Minimising stress – avoid projecting stress onto the students
  • Where to direct students if they need specific help

All of our workshops are led by highly experienced teachers and therapists. We are leaders of learning with vast experience in a number of institutions. The sessions combine the latest pedagogy with examples of effective strategies for improving the student experiences in the classroom. We will also provide practical examples of how to maximise student performance by providing delegates with a series of resources that can be adapted to suit most situations.

Our course will provide your staff with the best training available to support their development in your school and in the teaching profession as a whole.

The workshop will be led by Christine Thomas and a representative from Blue Therapy Clinic – CBT experts.

On completion of the course you will receive:

• CPD certificate documenting what you have learnt on the course
• On line post course support
• Classroom resources
